The National Park Service (NPS) has confirmed the recovery of two bodies missing at Lake Mead National Recreation Area since Monday.
According to a statement released by the NPS, the remains were found Friday morning with the assistance of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Search and Rescue team.
Identities Withheld Pending Notification
The identities of the deceased have not yet been publicly disclosed. Park officials reported that the men were “boating with friends at Lake Mead when they went for a swim and did not return.”
The bodies were located in the Callville Bay area of the lake.
Expressions of Condolence and Gratitude
“Lake Mead National Recreation Area officials share their deepest condolences with the families on their loss,” the NPS statement conveyed. The NPS also expressed gratitude to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Search and Rescue team for their “critical assistance in the recovery.”
Investigation Continues
Local authorities have not provided further details at this time. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
