Caught in the Middle of the Gunfire

LAS VEGAS – A woman says she barely made it out of the parking lot of a grocery store on Monday night when shots were fired. As Labor Day was coming to an end, this happened in front of the Smith’s store at Nellis and Stewart.
“Everything moved so quickly… “I didn’t know until I saw the gun right in front of me,” the woman, who FOX5 only calls Mary, said.
Mary was waiting for her husband, who was in the store when a bullet went through the windshield and came very close to hitting her head. The side of her car was also hit by a bullet, and the bullet that went through the windshield went all the way to the back of the car, making it impossible to drive.
Mary said she was watching videos on her phone, and when she looked up, she saw people running out of the store.
“I saw him pull out the gun. “I saw something that looked like a blue light coming toward me,” Mary said.
“I pushed my seat back and laid back quickly. I was with my three dogs, and two of them went under the seat… “I just laid there and heard three more shots, but he kept shooting,” Mary said.
As shots kept going off in the parking lot, she wasn’t sure at first if she had been hit.
“I got really scared, and I thought, ‘Tonight is my last day,'” Mary said.
When her husband came out of the store, Mary was crying. She says that other cars were also hit in the parking lot.
“The way he shoots at my car, I shouldn’t be here. Mary said, “I am very lucky.”
Mary said she is telling her story to let people know that they should always be aware of their surroundings.
Metro told FOX5 that during a fight inside the store, a man pulled a gun on a teen boy. They say that two men followed the teen and his family outside, where they were loading groceries, and started shooting. Nobody got hurt. The people who did it haven’t been found yet.
