A tragic crash in Moapa Valley on Friday evening left one child dead and another hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred at 6:02 p.m. near Moapa Valley Boulevard (State Route 169) and Bowman Road, according to Nevada State Police. Authorities confirmed that the crash involved a vehicle and an off-road four-wheeler.
Emergency responders pronounced one child dead at the scene, while another was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Both northbound and southbound lanes along Moapa Valley Boulevard were closed as police investigated. Traffic was rerouted via Lake Mead Boulevard or Valley of Fire Road for residents in Logandale and Overton. Southbound travelers from the Mesquite area on I-15 were advised to take Valley of Fire Road at Exit 75.
The crash site, located approximately 56 miles northeast of Las Vegas, remained closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
