LAS VEGAS – As the school year comes to a close, children and teenagers in the Las Vegas Valley will continue to have access to free meals throughout the summer months. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), a collaboration between the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA), aims to ensure that youth aged 18 and younger have access to nutritious meals from May to August.

According to a recent news release, the SFSP offers children the opportunity to receive up to two meals, one meal and a snack, or two snacks every day, with no eligibility requirements. The program is fully funded by the USDA and managed by the NDA.

Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) Director J.J. Goicoechea emphasized the significance of the program, stating, “This program ensures that hundreds of thousands of children across the state will have access to free and nutritious food during the summer.”

Various sites throughout the state, including schools, camps, parks, playgrounds, housing projects, community centers, churches, and other public locations where children frequently gather, participate in the Summer Food Service Program. These sites offer daily meals at no cost and do not require any enrollment.
