LAS VEGAS – On Friday, some Las Vegans rushed to fill their tanks after hearing about a gasoline pipeline spill in California.

We received reports of extensive queues at gas stations throughout the valley. Jim Flint, a photojournalist, met a few motorists at a Chevron station near Cheyenne Avenue and the 215 beltway who said they wanted to check their gasoline levels.

A representative for Clark County acknowledged that the affected pipeline distributes unleaded and diesel fuel to Southern Nevada, but made no mention of an immediate impact on the valley’s natural gas supply.

Emergency managers “believe we have adequate supplies and do not anticipate an immediate impact on gas availability,” according to a statement from a representative.

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners is in charge of the pipeline station in Watson, California. In a statement, the business stated that the station and the related gas pipelines, SFPP West and CALNEV, were shut down.

The drivers we spoke with are concerned about supply, but they are also anxious that this spill will lead petrol prices to increase once more.
