LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is searching for the driver of a blue Dodge Charger with black racing stripes, which they say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision near Sunrise Hospital on Monday morning.
According to the police, the incident happened at around 3:43 a.m. in the 3100 block of S. Maryland Parkway, just north of Desert Inn Road. A man, who has been identified as a 38-year-old, was reportedly lying in the right lane of southbound Maryland Parkway when he was struck by the Dodge Charger. The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene and fled south.
The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section is now appealing for anyone with information on the crash or the whereabouts of the Dodge Charger to come forward. The vehicle is believed to have damage to its front bumper and air dam.
In a statement, LVMPD reminded drivers of the importance of stopping and rendering aid in the event of a crash. Failure to do so can lead to severe criminal charges and penalties.
