House Fire That Killed Two Individuals Last September Was Accidental, Says Las Vegas Police

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – According to the city of Las Vegas, a house fire that killed two individuals late last month was accidental.

The city announced in a press statement Wednesday that the Sept. 22 fire in the 7600 block of Bachelors Button Drive was caused by smoking.

Heavy flames were spotted rising from the residence when firefighters arrived that morning. According to the city, they arrived and attempted to enter, but the intensity of the heat and flames pushed them back outside.

Just as firefighters arrived, the roof collapsed. While searching the house, investigators found two bodies.

Gregory Longergan, 67, and Elizabeth Dragon, 58, have been recognized by the Clark County Coroner’s office. Both the cause and manner of death are currently under investigation.
