Las Vegas Man Suspected of Pushing Hotel Security Officer to Death Had 48 Prior Arrests, Records Show
LAS VEGAS – Pedro Lizano, age 35, is being charged with murder in the death of Randall Lyons, age 67.
A report said that Lyons was working as a security guard at the El Cortez Hotel and Casino on Fremont Street on September 26, 2021, when he was sent to a restaurant because a man was making a scene there.
Police say that Lyons then found Lizano, the man who was making all the noise, in a valet area of the hotel.
As Lyons got closer to Lizano, police said, Lizano “forcefully and aggressively shoved” him, making Lyons fall backward. Police said that Lyons’ head hit the ground, knocking him out and causing him to bleed.
Police say that Lyons died of his wounds in February 2022.
Monday, when he was first brought in front of a judge, Lizano said he was guilty, but then he changed his mind.
Lizano was being held without bail. He was due in court again next week. His attorney asked a judge for a trial within 60 days.
