LAS VEGAS – According to police, a 44-year-old Las Vegas woman died when her vehicle ran a red light and collided with an SUV in west Las Vegas.
The unidentified woman was driving a 2009 Nissan Cube south on Tenaya Way toward Westcliff Drive just after 2 p.m. on January 2.
Meanwhile, a Toyota 4Runner 2021 was driving east on Westcliff toward Tenaya Way, which becomes Antelope Way south of Westcliff.
“A collision happened after the Nissan’s driver failed to stop for a solid red traffic signal and collided with the Toyota in the junction,” the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.
The driver of the Nissan was transferred to University Medical Center with injuries that were “found to be non-life threatening by trauma specialists,” according to a police statement.
However, authorities said on Sunday that the woman had died four days after the crash.
It was unclear what caused the woman’s death at the time. The Clark County coroner’s office releases information about the cause and manner of death in crashes.
The woman was the fourth road fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2023. Police stated the incident was still being investigated.
The Toyota’s driver, a 30-year-old Las Vegas woman, “remained at the crash scene with minor injuries and displayed no symptoms of impairment,” according to police.
