LGBT Nightclub in Colorado Leaves 5 Dead and Over a Dozen Injured
Five people were killed, and more than a dozen were injured in a shooting at a Colorado LGBTQ nightclub, according to officials.
The Colorado Springs venue, Club Q, referred to the shooting as a “hate assault” and said it was “devastated by the horrific attack on our community.” At least 18 individuals were hurt, according to officials.
“Our prays and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends,” the club said in a statement posted on Facebook. “We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.”
Saturday at 11:57 p.m., police said they received the first contact regarding a suspicious vehicle. They reported that a probable suspect was injured and in custody.
“Numerous officers and medical immediately responded to the area, and officers immediately made entry,” Lt. Pamela Castro, spokesperson for Colorado Springs Police Department, told reporters. “They did locate one individual believed to be a suspect inside.”
A suspect was among those evacuated to local hospitals, according to authorities. The FBI was present in Colorado Springs, according to officials.
According to its website, Club Q on North Academy Boulevard presents a weekly drag show and live DJ every Saturday night.
