Man Arrested for Kidnapping Woman and 3 Kids
LAS VEGAS – A Las Vegas man kidnapped a lady and her three children at knifepoint, authorities said.
Justin Junius Carter, 34, was detained when a woman contacted 911 while driving. She told Mesquite police she was in danger.
Police stopped Carter’s car, which contained a woman and her three children. Carter allegedly tried to stab the woman in Las Vegas and then kidnapped her and her children.
Carter was charged with kidnapping, domestic abuse, attempted murder, and coerced domestic violence with force, court documents show.
Mesquite Police Chief MaQuade Chesley praised the family’s bravery. They kept calm, and she planned to phone for aid as soon as she could.
Carter pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and shooting at an occupied building or vehicle in November 2012. District court records show he received five years of probation.
He’s being held on $500,000 bail until Oct. 26.
