Missing Utah Teen, Believed Headed to Las Vegas, Turns Up Safe in Colorado

Fifteen-year-old Alisa Petrov, who had been missing from South Jordan, Utah, since April 21, was found safe and in good health after voluntarily walking into the Colorado Springs Police Department on Sunday evening. Authorities confirmed her identity, and she is now under the care of Colorado officials as arrangements are made to reunite her with her family.

Alisa was last seen on surveillance footage leaving a train platform in Provo, Utah, on the night of her disappearance. Prior to that, she had been dropped off at Canyon Grove Academy but did not attend school. Instead, she purchased supplies at a nearby gas station and secured a ride to a train station, reportedly attempting to travel to Las Vegas to meet individuals she had contacted online.

Investigations revealed that Alisa had engaged in explicit online communications with at least three adult men via platforms like Discord. One of these individuals, 41-year-old Samuel Teancum Mitchell, was arrested and charged with multiple counts related to sexual exploitation and enticement of a minor. Two other men, William Taylor Glines, 37, from Texas, and Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, from Florida, have also been charged with similar offenses.

While the exact circumstances of Alisa’s time away remain unclear, her father, Nikolai Petrov, expressed immense relief at her safe return and gratitude towards law enforcement and the community for their support. Authorities continue to investigate the details surrounding her disappearance and subsequent return.
