LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – Residents in the northeast Las Vegas Valley may expect higher noise from military aircraft due to forthcoming Red Flag training operations, according to Nellis Air Force Base.
According to a press release, Red Flag 23-1 will take place at Nellis Air Force Base from January 23 to February 10.
Nellis said over 100 planes are slated to leave the base twice a day as part of the training exercise and might stay in the air for up to five hours.
Officials also state that night launches will be conducted to enable for air crew training during midnight combat operations.
According to the statement, Nellis will host about 3,000 participants from all branches of the US military, as well as the Royal Air (UK) and Australian Air Forces, during the next Red Flag 23-1.
According to officials, the 355th Wing at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona will take command of the participating aircraft, which include the F-35 Lightning II, F-22 Raptor, B-52 Stratofortress, and the Australian E-7 Wedgetail.
The Red Flag exercise, which Nellis has hosted since 1975, gives aircrews with the opportunity to gain experience “multiple, intensive air combat sorties in the safety of a training environment.”
