A Nevada man initially arrested in Southern Utah on drug possession charges now faces additional, more serious allegations.
Elton Castine, 34, has been charged with human trafficking and related offenses in Washington County, Utah. According to court documents, the charges stem from incidents involving a woman who was allegedly forced into sex work.
The woman reportedly told authorities that she had been coerced into the sex trade by Castine. She described a controlled environment where she was not allowed to leave, have friends, or see her children. The woman expressed fear of retaliation from Castine, believing he would harm her if she disclosed any information.
Castine is accused of forcing the woman to advertise her services on a website used for sex work and then demanding the money she earned. He allegedly threatened her with violence if she failed to comply.
When confronted by police about the allegations, Castine requested an attorney.
In addition to the human trafficking charges, Castine is facing previous charges of drug possession with intent to distribute and other drug-related offenses.
