LAS VEGAS – On Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Las Vegas issued an airport weather warning for Harry Reid International Airport because some parts of the valley were getting heavy rain and winds.
The warning, which is projected to last until 2:15 p.m., was issued because thunderstorm wind gusts of 40 miles per hour or higher may hit the terminal area, according to the NWS.
Gusty winds and rain were reported in the northwest and southwest valleys Tuesday afternoon, with sections of the southwest receiving up to a tenth of an inch of rain by noon.
Due to the bad weather, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo shuttered all state government offices in Washoe, Carson, Douglas, Lyon, and Story counties on Tuesday.
