Henry Ruggs III, a former wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, is accused of killing a young woman in a drunk driving accident. On Wednesday morning, his preliminary hearing was moved for the fifth time.
Ruggs was supposed to go to court on Wednesday for the hearing, but the date was changed again to some time in October. The purpose of the hearing was to find out if the state has enough evidence to put him on trial.
Ruggs, who is 23 years old, is accused of driving his Corvette at 156 miles per hour and hitting Tina Tintor’s car, causing a fiery crash that killed Tina Tintor, who was also 23 years old, and her dog early in the morning of November 2, 2021.
Ruggs’s last time in court was in July, when his lawyers said the police didn’t have a legal reason to take his blood. But the judge said that the test results could be used as evidence. Court records say that Ruggs’ blood alcohol level was 0.161, which is more than twice the legal limit.
Ruggs is charged with DUI that led to death, DUI that led to serious injuries, and two counts of reckless driving that led to death or serious injuries. He was also charged with a misdemeanor for having a gun in his possession while he was drunk.
After the crash, Ruggs was let go from the Raiders. He has been put under electronic house arrest.
