LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – In the north Las Vegas valley, a guy was detained in connection with a homicide.
Jason Spellman, 38, was detained on suspicion of open murder with a dangerous weapon.
LVMPD received several reports of a gunshot in the 1200 block of Hassell Avenue, near MLK Boulevard and Lake Mead Boulevard, shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 27.
According to authorities, when officers arrived, they discovered an adult male, identified as Clarence Harvey III, 43, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
Harvey was taken to UMC and declared dead there.
According to the LVMPD investigation, Harvey and Spellman were at a nearby gathering seconds before the incident.
Harvey had left the meeting and was wandering in the vicinity when Spellman drove up and fired numerous rounds at him, according to police. Spellman fled the scene before the police arrived.
Spellman was apprehended later that evening in the 3300 block of North Decatur Boulevard. He was arrested and lodged into the CCDC for open murder with a dangerous weapon.
Spellman is due to appear in court at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
