LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe)- Snow has returned to the mountains outside of Las Vegas as a result of Thursday’s cold, wet weather.
In the morning, southern Nevada awoke to cold temperatures, valley rain, and mountain snow.
In the Spring Mountains, snow is already falling. In the mid-elevations, 2 to 3 inches of snow is expected, with up to 6 inches on the highest peaks. This morning, the snow level is predicted to drop to roughly 4,000-5,000 feet.
Thursday’s maximum temperature in Las Vegas will be approximately 56 degrees (it was 64 degrees on Wednesday and 79 degrees on Tuesday). Our midday temps will be 15-20 degrees lower than typical.
The cold front will bring winds of 10 to 15 mph from the north/northwest, with gusts of up to 25 mph.
The storm is expected to leave the region this evening, with substantially cooler temperatures expected tonight. Lows in the valley will be around 43 degrees, with much cooler temperatures on the outskirts of town.
Dry weather is forecast this weekend, with temperatures in the valley gradually rising to the low 70s by Sunday.
