The Southern Nevada Health District Warns of Fentanyl Overdose Risk

LAS VEGAS – Southern Nevada Health District warns about fentanyl after six overdoses in 36 hours.

Four of the six overdoses were fentanyl overdoses, according to LVMPD.

Fentanyl caused 46% of overdose deaths in Clark County in the past three years, according to the health district.

Health officials intended to warn the public about fentanyl, an opioid 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine. Fentanyl can be blended to resemble heroin, cocaine, or meth.
People at risk of opioid overdose, as well as their family members, should carry naloxone.

The health district introduced free fentanyl test strips this year to detect if fentanyl is in a tablet or powder.
