LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have reported that a 17-year-old male was shot and killed at a birthday party over the weekend. The incident occurred at around 9:17 p.m. on March 25th, in the 200 block of E. Flamingo Road, close to Koval Lane.
According to police, the victim, identified as Omarion Marques Wilson, was found in the area with an apparent gunshot wound. He was quickly rushed to Sunrise Hospital, but unfortunately died from his injuries.
Investigators have since confirmed that Wilson, a student at Legacy High School in North Las Vegas, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the upper arm, which penetrated his chest. His death has been ruled a homicide.
Reports suggest that Wilson had been celebrating a friend’s birthday prior to the shooting. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but police have confirmed that an investigation is underway.
Following the tragic news, the principal of Legacy High School sent a letter to parents informing them of Wilson’s death. The wider community has also expressed condolences, with many taking to social media to pay tribute to the young victim.
