LAS VEGAS – The Tropicana Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip is being considered as a potential site for the Oakland A’s Las Vegas ballpark, according to sources with direct knowledge of the project. Howard Stutz with the Nevada Independent was the first to report on the development on Tuesday. As part of the agreement, the Tropicana hotel may need to be demolished to make way for the ballpark.
The Oakland A’s had previously been in a binding agreement with Red Rock Resorts, but it was contingent on receiving public financing.
The development has not been officially confirmed by the Oakland A’s or the Tropicana Hotel, and it is unclear when a formal announcement will be made.
