NEVADA – On Thursday afternoon, a white, powdery substance was discovered at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police headquarters, prompting a partial evacuation of the building. According to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, the substance was sent to the department’s records division. As a result, a heavy law enforcement presence could be seen outside the department’s headquarters on M.L.K. Boulevard and Alta Drive in the central Las Vegas Valley.
In a statement to media, Metro officials confirmed that a “suspicious package” was received at Building C, which houses the Records and Fingerprint Bureau. As a precautionary measure, the building was closed for the day. Officials also added that the incident is currently under investigation.
Further details regarding the nature of the suspicious package or the white powdery substance have not been released yet. The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
