NEVADA – The Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol (NSP, HP) reported the death of a 25-year-old male from Owyhee, Nevada, following a collision that occurred Thursday night in Elko.
On November 17 at about 8:00 p.m., NSP and HP were dispatched to the scene of a crash on SR-225, about 75 miles north of Elko.
Initially, it was determined that a gray GMC pick-up truck was heading north on SR-225 when its driver lost control of a bend. The pickup went off the left side of the road, overturned, and then crossed the center line.
Jachai Calvin, 25, was a passenger who was ejected from a pick-up truck because he was not wearing a seatbelt. According to the NSP, HP, he passed away there from his wounds.
It is believed that impairment may have contributed to the accident.
The Nevada Highway Patrol’s Northern Command East Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team is still looking into the incident (M.I.R.T).
Sergeant Mitch Payne of the NHP Elko office requests that anyone who may have witnessed this or who may have information call him at (775) 753-1111.
