NEVADA – Former school employee James Blueberg faces the following charges with a $40,000 bail:
- Child Endangerment
- Threatening a Student
Blueberg was driving a school bus with Bordewich Bray Elementary School kids at 8:14 a.m. on September 14.
Michael Baxter accused a pupil of flipping him off as kids exited the bus, CCSO said.
Police said Blueberg knew Baxter and let him on the bus to identify the offender.
A 9-year-old fourth-grader stepped forward when Baxter sought answers, according to the report. Baxter stood on the bus’s stairs while Blueberg lectured the fourth-grader.
The police report states Blueberg and Baxter admonished the youngster about being respectful and kind, then allowed the other students off the bus.
Baxter re-entered the empty bus and told Blueberg, “There are no white children on the bus,” the report adds. Blueberg said indigenous youngsters were on the pick-up route and in the area.
Baxter told cops he was merely observing and not being prejudiced. Baxter claims he was surprised there were no “white kids” on the bus because Carson City was formerly predominantly white.
The fourth grader told CCSO detectives he was terrified because the bus driver didn’t make Baxter leave.
After being examined by CCSO, Blueberg was arrested by sheriff’s detectives on September 16.
Blueberg was booked without incident.
