A Single-Car Crash Killed One in Sparks
NEVADA – On Friday morning, there was a fatal crash involving a single vehicle in Sparks.
On November 18 at 9:30 a.m., responders were called to the intersection of Greg Street and Industrial Way for an accident.
As police arrived, they discovered three males inside the car. It was determined by medical personnel that a passenger in the back of the car had died from his injuries.
The front seat passenger and driver, both injured but not critically so, were located by police. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. After conducting their investigation and speaking with witnesses, the police determined that the driver had been proceeding east on Greg St through the intersection of Industrial Way while the signal was red. In an effort to avoid colliding with another vehicle, the driver careened off the road and into a drainage ditch.
The police have determined that neither alcohol nor speed was contributing factor.
To this far, the victim’s identity has not been made public.
During the police inquiry, the road was closed, but it reopened shortly before 2 in the afternoon.
Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) personnel were dispatched to the location and are now leading the ongoing investigation.
Sparks Police are requesting the public’s help in locating any potential witnesses or individuals with knowledge regarding the collision. We urge anyone with information about this case to contact the Sparks Police Department at (775) 353-2231 or to use the anonymous tip line, Secret Witness.
