NEVADA – Chewy’s new e-commerce fulfillment center in north Reno helps the company to better serve Western and Pacific Northwest customers.
The 795,000-square-foot plant is the company’s 13th and second in Northern Nevada. Mike Stevens, vice president of HR fulfillment and supply chain, said Chewy’s 566,866-square-foot Milan Drive distribution center is the oldest of its fulfillment centers.
Chewy required more warehouse space to grow and better service its Pacific Northwest customers and to automate its Northern Nevada operations, Stevens told NNBW last week. Last Thursday, regional journalists toured the new fulfillment center.
The new Reno fulfillment center handles orders from the Pacific Northwest and helps the Goodyear, Arizona, facility. Stevens: More capacity in Northern Nevada helps the company meet its one- to two-day delivery goal, Stevens said.
Clayco of St. Louis was the warehouse’s design builder, and Kansas City’s studio north Architecture was the principal architect. Clayco installed the building’s electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire alarm systems.
In its 2021 annual SEC filing, Chewy said it operates 9 million square feet of fulfillment facilities and employs 21,300 workers. Chewy operates from Boston and Plantation, Fla. Stevens said the corporation would use third-party logistics suppliers to transfer goods in and out of north Reno.
