Nevada Introduces Bill To Protect Outdoor Workers From Extreme Heat

NEVADA – A new bill named “Extreme Weather Working Conditions Bill,” or Senate Bill 427, has been introduced in Nevada to protect outdoor workers from the extreme desert heat.

The bill, if passed, would require employers to provide specific heat protection, including shade, access to water, and a minimum 10-minute break per hour when the weather reaches 95 degrees.

While the Nevada Environmental Justice Coalition supports the bill, some businesses have pushed back, claiming that it may be too costly.

The bill’s hearing is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
