Reno, NV – A Reno homeowner made a startling discovery while cleaning out their basement on Thursday afternoon. Inside a box were explosives that prompted the homeowner to call authorities for assistance.
The incident prompted a response from several agencies, including the Reno Police, Reno Fire, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, and REMSA. The authorities arrived at the home near the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center to investigate the situation and take precautions.
Upon further inspection, authorities found around 100 sticks of dynamite. As a precautionary measure, the bomb squad safely disposed of the explosives.
According to Washoe County Deputies, there is no longer a threat to the public. However, due to the nature of the situation, surrounding roads near Wells Avenue may remain closed for a while to ensure the safe clearance of the site.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper handling and disposal of explosives. Authorities advise the public to immediately contact law enforcement in case of any suspicious or dangerous discoveries.
