Reno Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Near Washoe Lake on Friday
NEVADA – On Friday afternoon, a single-car accident near Washoe Lake killed a 34-year-old man from Reno.
On September 27, at about 1:38 p.m., Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division (NSP, HP) Troopers were called to the intersection of US-395 and Old Franktown Road because of a fatal crash.
Initial investigations by NSP and HP showed that Roy Peter Ricci of Reno was driving north in a 2003 Cadillac Deville when it went off the road and hit a mailbox in the dirt.
The car went north and hit a wooden split-rail fence, and a culvert then turned around and stopped near an east-facing utility pole. Ricci was hurt, so she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed and impairment are thought to be factors.
