Reno Rodeo’s Wish Program Grants Wish For A Local Family

NEVADA – The Reno Rodeo Foundation’s Reno Rodeo Wish Program has provided assistance and an adventure to a Reno-area family.

Asher Norvell, Charlene Norvell’s son, weighed 1 pound 14 ounces when he was born and spent his first 164 days in an infant intensive care unit.

Asher, who is now eight years old, has bilateral vocal paralysis, chronic lung disease, and tracheomalacia. He’s had several surgeries and will need another 17 to rebuild his vocal cords.

Asher, his 10-year-old brother Landon, and Charlene Norvell could attend the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas earlier this month thanks to the Rodeo Wish Program.

In addition, the foundation repaired a broken-down pickup truck so that the family could explore, and it provided a generator to power Asher’s medical equipment.

Asher was nominated for the award by his doctors at Renown Regional Medical Center.

According to Charlene Norvell, she has two cowboys in training who enjoy every aspect of the rodeo.

According to Asher, the experience has made him feel like his family has grown.
