NEVADA – A devastating accident involving a rock crawler at the Moon Rocks Recreational Area has resulted in the loss of two lives and left two individuals injured.
On the evening of May 20, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, along with the Search and Rescue Team and detectives, swiftly responded to the scene following reports of a crash.
Upon arrival, deputies and dedicated volunteers from the Specialized Vehicle Unit were confronted with the sight of a rock crawler that had rolled over while traversing treacherous terrain.
Tragically, two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, two others sustained injuries as a result of the accident. One victim suffered a broken arm, while the other sustained a head injury. Both injured individuals were promptly transported to Renown Hospital for treatment, although their current condition remains undisclosed.
Responding to the incident, the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and the Bureau of Land Management worked in collaboration to provide their assistance.
