RENO — University of Nevada students can breathe a sigh of relief as they’ve been given the all-clear signal following a Friday night evacuation of student housing prompted by a strong gas smell. An email obtained by 2 News states that students can now return to their residences after being evacuated from multiple housing halls on the university campus.

The cause of the gas odor remains unknown, but a text sent to the University of Nevada students, also obtained by 2 News, confirmed the evacuations and emphasized the strong smell of gas. Responding to the call, NV Energy, Police, and the Reno Fire Department acted swiftly to address the situation.

Earlier, multiple student housing halls at the University of Nevada, Reno, were evacuated due to the pervasive smell of gas. The ongoing efforts of authorities and the quick response have ensured the safety of the students.
