NEVADA – The Sparks Fire Department reported that an early Saturday morning fire in a west Sparks apartment severely destroyed the building and injured the resident.
A call came in at 5:03 AM reporting a fire on A Street between the 1900 and 1800 blocks, not far from Interstate 80.
The fire was swiftly extinguished by the first responding fire truck, but the apartment sustained severe damage and is now uninhabitable.
The resident was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained while escaping the blaze.
Authorities are still trying to determine what started the blaze.
Twenty-three fire department personnel responded to the fire.
