NEVADA – Jessica Griffin, a 40-year-old woman, was shot and killed in Verdi on Tuesday night. She had filed multiple temporary protective orders against her 20-year dating partner, Jesce Richt, whom she described as violent, abusive, and threatening to kill her entire family.
In court documents, Griffin wrote that Richt had strangled, hit, and caused serious injuries to her, and threatened to kill her family and her sister’s baby.
Washoe County District Court Judge Dixie Grossman denied her recent request for a protective order because another order granted in 2022 was still in effect.
Richt, who is facing felony charges in Henderson County for assault on another girl, is the suspect in her killing, but is still not in custody.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has raised over $37,000 for Griffin’s family.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Reno Police Department or Secret Witness.
