A Las Vegas teenager has been sentenced to probation after admitting guilt in the fatal shooting of his father during a family dispute.
Lincoln Peterson, who was 15 at the time of the incident, shot his father, Jeremy Peterson, on December 28, 2024, inside their home near Smoke Ranch Road and Rainbow Boulevard. He is now 16.
Initially charged with murder, Peterson accepted a plea agreement in April and pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with the use of a deadly weapon. On Thursday, August 14, Clark County District Judge Tierra Jones sentenced him to five years of probation, with a suspended prison term of three to seven and a half years.
As part of his probation, Peterson must comply with strict conditions. He is prohibited from consuming alcohol or marijuana, must provide authorities with all passwords to his digital accounts and devices, follow a court-imposed curfew, complete counseling, and obtain a high school diploma or GED. Any violation of these terms would result in him serving the suspended prison sentence.
