
$40 Withdrawal Turns Violent: Police Seek ATM Shooter

A 22-year-old Las Vegas man, Bryson Chen, was shot and robbed for a mere $40 while withdrawing cash from an ATM. The incident occurred on March 10 in the 3200 block of North Las Vegas Boulevard, near Cheyenne Avenue.
Chen, who was returning home from work, stopped to withdraw money for gas when he was approached by a young man who demanded his wallet. Despite complying, Chen was shot in the abdomen, resulting in two surgeries and a prolonged recovery. The assailant, described as a Black male with dreadlocks, approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall, aged between 16 and 20, wearing clear glasses, black pants with a red bandana in the back pocket, and a black hoodie, fled the scene and remains at large.
This case is among several under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Gun Crime Unit, established to address non-fatal shootings. Captain Michelle Tavarez emphasized the importance of community assistance in identifying the suspect to prevent further violence.
