A shocking case of domestic violence unfolded in southeast Las Vegas on Friday, leaving one woman dead and another injured. Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen, 41, approached his ex-wife and her girlfriend near Tropicana Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, opening fire in broad daylight. The girlfriend was pronounced dead at the scene, while the ex-wife suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

In a bizarre twist, Rodriguez-Guillen himself called police dispatchers to report the shooting and remained at the scene until officers arrived. He now faces charges of open murder and attempted murder and is being held without bail.

This tragic incident highlights the alarming spike in domestic violence during the holiday season—a time meant for family and peace. As we reflect on this event, it’s a sobering reminder of the importance of personal accountability and the critical need to address domestic violence at its roots. What can be done to strengthen prevention efforts and protect victims before it’s too late?
