In a significant boost to downtown Henderson’s revitalization, the once-stalled Watermark project is back on track, aiming for completion by the end of May. This ambitious $65 million development, strategically located on Water Street, promises 151 upscale apartments and over 30,000 square feet of commercial space, directly opposite the America First Center ice rink.
The journey hasn’t been without challenges. The project faced halted construction, legal disputes, and bankruptcy proceedings. However, the developers’ unwavering commitment led them to secure nearly $28 million in new funding, ensuring the project’s completion. Tom Wucherer, a partner with Strada Development Group, emphasized the project’s alignment with Water Street’s future, stating, “When you look at our project, it absolutely fits in with the future of Water Street.”
This development underscores the importance of economic freedom and the entrepreneurial spirit. Despite facing financial hurdles and a challenging economic climate, the developers showcased resilience and determination, securing the necessary funds to bring their vision to fruition. Such initiatives not only enhance the local economy but also create job opportunities and foster community growth.
As downtown Henderson continues its transformation with new businesses and increased foot traffic, the Watermark stands as a beacon of progress and a testament to what can be achieved when private enterprise and determination converge.
