Essential Workers Eligible for $20K Home-Buying Support Under New State Program

Nevada has introduced a new housing program aimed at helping workers buy homes. The Nevada Housing Division announced the launch of the Worker Advantage Program. The initiative offers $20,000 in down payment assistance to eligible households, with the goal of supporting up to 900 families.
The program targets essential workers in fields such as healthcare, education, public safety, and construction. Applicants must have lived in Nevada for at least six months, and household income must fall within certain limits relative to area median income.
Households do not have to be first-time buyers to qualify. The assistance is provided as a 30-year, no-interest, no-payment second mortgage that can be applied toward down payment, closing costs, or used to reduce the interest rate on the primary loan.
For many Nevada essential workers, the program may offer a path to homeownership that would otherwise be difficult to achieve given high housing costs in parts of the state. Demand is expected to be high, and funding is first-come, first-served until the available pool is depleted.
