LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – A former model who was charged with the 2019 murder of a California doctor entered a guilty plea in court on Tuesday.
On November 9, 2022, 29-year-old Kelsey Turner entered an Alford plea of guilty. When a suspect enters an Alford plea, they acknowledge there is sufficient evidence to support a conviction but refuse to confess guilt.
Turner was given a sentence on Tuesday that calls for him to serve a minimum of 10 years in jail and a maximum of 25 years before being eligible for parole.
In 2019, Turner and Jon Kennison were charged with the murder of Dr. Thomas Burchard, 71. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were summoned to a suspicious car near Lake Mead at around 9:30 in the morning, according to an arrest report. at 7 March 2019. Burchard’s corpse was discovered in the car’s trunk, police earlier stated.
About two weeks later, Turner was detained in California and accused of killing Burchard. In connection with the case, Kennison and a third suspect, Diana Pena, were also detained.
Pena admitted to being an accessory to murder in June 2019. In July 2022, Kennison—who had already admitted to second-degree murder and conspiracy to kill—was given a jail term of 18 to 45 years.
