LAS VEGAS – On Tuesday, four Clark County School District students were arrested after school police discovered four guns.
A public information officer said that three high school pupils and one middle school student were arrested.
According to CCSD Police Lt. Bryan Zink, the four teenagers were detained for possessing a firearm, carrying a hidden weapon, and possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds.
According to authorities, two weapons were discovered from students at Eldorado High School in the east valley this morning.
Officers apprehended two additional juveniles with weapons on their school campuses this afternoon: one at Mojave High School in North Las Vegas and the other at Escobedo Middle School in Centennial Hills.
This school year saw a 32% increase in the number of guns seized on CCSD campuses.
CCSD officers have recovered 25 weapons from school campuses this year.
A ninth-grader was discovered with a handgun in their backpack on the Palo Verde High School campus only last week. According to CCSD Police, in that case, a teacher used their personal safety badge to notify authorities, and the school’s principal phoned police.
According to Abel Garcia of KTNV, the student is facing various weapons-related offenses.
When a teacher was attacked at Eldorado High School last year, the CCSD is in the process of outfitting teachers and employees with similar personal safety alert devices.
A middle school kid was detained on Feb. 3 for carrying a gun to Cram Middle School in North Las Vegas.
