Two Henderson schools were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning as Las Vegas Metropolitan Police investigated a carjacking that originated in east Las Vegas.
According to LVMPD, a carjacking occurred near Nellis Boulevard and Flamingo Road on the 4000 block of Baldwin Street. The victim’s vehicle was stolen at gunpoint.
Authorities later located the stolen car roughly ten miles away in a Henderson neighborhood near Palo Verde Drive and Burkholder Boulevard.
While one suspect is reportedly in custody, LVMPD is still searching for potentially additional accomplices involved in the carjacking.
As a precautionary measure, both Basic Academy of International Studies and C.T. Sewell Elementary School were placed on lockdown at approximately 11:00 AM. Henderson Police are assisting LVMPD with the ongoing investigation.
