Henderson’s New Top Cop: Rader Steps In to Restore Order and Trust

In a decisive move to restore integrity and leadership within the Henderson Police Department, the city has appointed Reggie Rader as its new police chief. Rader, a seasoned law enforcement professional with nearly 30 years of experience, steps into the role following a period of controversy and leadership instability.

Rader’s extensive background includes serving as a deputy chief with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, where he led critical divisions such as Homeland Security and Community Engagement. His commendable service earned him the Medal of Valor, the highest honor in law enforcement. A proud graduate of Green Valley High School and a longtime Henderson resident, Rader’s deep community roots and commitment to public safety position him as a leader poised to bring stability and accountability to the department.

The appointment comes after the dismissal of former Chief Hollie Chadwick, whose tenure was marred by allegations of misconduct and a contentious relationship with the police union. Chadwick’s departure left a leadership vacuum that Rader is expected to fill with professionalism and a focus on community trust.

City Manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause expressed confidence in Rader’s ability to guide the department into a new era, emphasizing his professional excellence and vision for Henderson’s public safety. Rader himself acknowledged the dedication of the department’s personnel and expressed his commitment to leading with transparency and setting high standards in policing.

Rader will officially assume his new role on July 7, with an Oath of Office ceremony scheduled for July 15 during a special city council meeting.
