LAS VEGAS, NV — A 23-year-old man is dead following a violent high-speed collision in the northeast valley late Wednesday night, marking a somber milestone as the 37th traffic-related fatality investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) this year.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:29 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, on North Hollywood Boulevard, just south of East Bonanza Road.

The Collision

According to evidence at the scene and witness statements, a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling southbound on Hollywood Boulevard at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle crossed the intersection at Bonanza Road, the driver lost control, causing the Pontiac to rotate counterclockwise and skid into the northbound travel lanes.

A 2023 GMC Sierra, driven by 20-year-old Jose Soto of Henderson, was traveling northbound and was unable to avoid the skidding vehicle. The front of the GMC struck the passenger side of the Pontiac with enough force to cause the pickup truck to overturn onto its side.

Casualties and Investigation

Arriving medical personnel determined the driver of the Pontiac was beyond medical intervention and pronounced him deceased at the scene. His identity is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The occupants of the GMC—Soto and his 21-year-old female passenger—were transported by ground ambulance to University Medical Center (UMC) Trauma. Soto was treated for moderate injuries, while the passenger sustained minor injuries.

LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section remains on-site as of Thursday morning, April 9, processing the wreckage and maintaining road restrictions in the area. This incident follows another fatal motorcycle crash just hours earlier, contributing to a heavy 24-hour period for Metro traffic units.
