Kamala Harris to Celebrate Culinary Workers and Tout Economic Progress in Las Vegas New Year’s Visit

LAS VEGAS – The White House announced Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris will kick off the new year with a two-day visit to Las Vegas, marking her ninth trip to Nevada since taking office.

Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will be in Sin City on January 2nd and 3rd, with the highlight being a celebration with members of Culinary Workers Union Local 226. The union recently secured a historic contract with prominent Strip resort-casinos, and the Vice President is expected to commend both the workers and the Biden administration’s role in facilitating the agreement.

Harris’ visit won’t be solely focused on labor victories. She will also tout the Biden administration’s economic achievements, particularly in fostering Nevada’s booming tourism and hospitality industry. The Vice President is likely to highlight policies promoting infrastructure development, job creation, and responsible unionization.

Following her Las Vegas engagements, Harris will head to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she will be the keynote speaker at the 7th Episcopal District AME Church Women’s Missionary Society annual retreat. This event further reinforces her outreach to religious communities and her commitment to addressing issues important to women and faith-based organizations.
