A fraud investigation in Las Vegas has taken a new turn after two suspects were taken into custody Friday morning in connection to an online scam that tricked job seekers into paying for fake Amazon delivery driver jobs.
The Setup:
Scammers posted fraudulent job ads, luring applicants with third-party Amazon delivery positions. Victims were required to fill out an application, provide a $200 fee, and even take a urine test—some even handed over their Social Security numbers and banking information.
The Scam Unravels:
Applicants were instructed to return at a later date for interviews. But when they arrived, they found the business completely empty—the scammers had vanished.
The Investigation:
Police and SWAT officers tracked down a motor home suspected of being tied to the fraud operation in downtown Las Vegas near N 6th Street and E Mesquite Avenue. Two individuals were detained, but LVMPD later clarified that the vehicle was not directly linked to the fraud case. The investigation remains active.
Key Takeaways:
•Job seekers paid $200+ in fees for fake Amazon jobs.
• Some victims handed over sensitive personal information.
• Business location vanished—scammers disappeared.
•Two suspects were detained, but police continue investigating.
Personal responsibility matters. Job seekers should always verify employers, avoid upfront fees, and never give out sensitive personal data to unverified sources.
