Las Vegas Goes Big on Crime Prevention with Valley-Wide Billboard Push

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have launched a new public-safety campaign across the Las Vegas Valley, deploying more than 80 digital billboards with the message “Help crush violent crime!” to encourage residents to report criminal activity.

The campaign is part of a nationwide effort by the FBI to partner with local law enforcement agencies and increase community involvement in preventing violence, gangs and fugitives. At a news conference announcing the initiative, FBI Las Vegas head Christopher Delzotto emphasized that strong public cooperation is vital to ongoing crime-reduction efforts – even as Las Vegas has seen notable declines in homicides and officer-involved shootings this year.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill of Metro said the timing of the billboard rollout is strategic: “Shoot somebody in our town, you’re going to get caught,” he said, pointing to crime-statistics improvements including a 30 % drop in homicides and a 66 % drop in officer-involved shootings compared with last year.

In addition to traditional investigations, the campaign aims to widen the net by encouraging tips from the public through an anonymous line (1-800-CALL-FBI) or the FBI’s online portal. Clear Channel Outdoor donated the billboard space, making the campaign cost-effective for local agencies.

Law-enforcement officials say the message is more than a billboard—it’s a signal that community engagement remains central to public-safety strategy. By making reporting easier and more visible, the agencies hope to sustain the downward crime trend and deepen trust between residents and police.
