A Las Vegas man was sentenced to 51 months of imprisonment with three years of home detention for attempting to burn down the Foley Federal Building and US Courthouse in 2020.
Marty Clark (32) pled guilty to depredation of US property in June 2022.
According to prosecution records and statements made in court, Clark intended to set fire to the Foley Federal Building and the U.S. In downtown Las Vegas, there is a courthouse.
Clark threw gasoline on timber frame at the building’s front entry and set it on fire at 3:20 a.m. Clark was stopped by a security guard stationed inside the premises. Clark shoved the officer away and afterwards fled the area. Clark damaged the structure to the tune of $5,000.
U.S. Attorney Jason M. Frierson for the District of Nevada, and Special Agent in Charge Patrick Gorman of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (San Francisco Field Division). The announcement was delivered by Marshal Gary Schofield.
The ATF, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, FBI, US Marshals Service, Federal Protective Service and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department All- Hazard Regional Multi- Agency Section all investigated the case. Bianca Pucci, an Assistant United States Attorney, prosecuted the case.
