Las Vegas Metro Police Arrested a Guy Last Week for Threatening a 1 October-Style Massacre on the Strip on Facebook
LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Metro police arrested a guy last week for threatening a 1 October-style slaughter on the Strip on Facebook.
Matthew DeSavio, 33, is accused of threatening to spread false terrorism information.
Police said DeSavio threatened a shooting similar to the 1 October tragedy in a “disturbing” Facebook post on Oct. 26.
Something enormous is coming to Vegas. #October1stwasjustapreview! Let’s [expletive] [expletive] up before I #blowup Paradise NV, the post purportedly claimed. Paradise, Nevada, contains the Las Vegas Strip.
Police say a medical facility reported DeSavio’s actions.
DeSavio agreed to meet officers at Durango Drive and Blue Diamond Road, authorities said. The suspect told DeSavio he planned to drive into Mandalay Bay, police added.
Stephen Paddock killed 58 people at Mandalay Bay on Oct. 1, 2017. Two more perished from injuries that night, bringing the total to 60. Shooting harmed hundreds.
DeSavio informed police he was Pete Davidson, officials said. DeSavio said to police he was driving recklessly when apprehended.
Police say DeSavio told them he planned to dive into the Bellagio Fountains and then “spoke about Henry Ruggs” The former Raider is accused of driving his Corvette 156 mph into a woman’s car, killing her and her dog on Nov. 2, 2021.
Police added in an arrest report that DeSavio admitted he knew his words would worry people.
DeSavio remained jailed Tuesday. He was due in court Thursday.
