Law enforcement authorities in Las Vegas have arrested 35-year-old John Navarro in connection with an explosion that occurred outside Piero’s Italian Cuisine last week. The Metropolitan Police Department connected Navarro to the incident, which involved an improvised explosive device, using body camera footage from a traffic stop that took place hours before the detonation. Court records indicate that during the earlier traffic stop, the suspect was driving an unregistered vehicle and was observed wearing the same clothing and operating the same red Nissan that was later identified in surveillance video at the restaurant. Navarro, who was arrested on Saturday, faces multiple felony charges, including use of explosives to damage property, unlawful possession of an explosive device, and first-degree arson.
Authorities stated that two suspects were involved in the placement of the device at the restaurant’s front door at approximately 2:19 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025. During the suspect’s arrest, police allegedly found him in possession of an illegally concealed firearm and methamphetamine. Following the explosion, an explosive detection dog alerted to explosive residue on a backpack found inside the red Nissan, and a fuse wrapper consistent with the device was reportedly recovered from Navarro’s residence. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are still searching for the second individual involved in the incident.
